Background

The Interaction, Simulation and Graphics Lab (formerly the Image Synthesis Group) (ISG) was established in 1993 to pursue research in all aspects of Computer Graphics and Visual Computing and currently has 15 full-time researchers. We have been extremely successful in securing research funding for projects since the group was founded, with particular areas of speciality being graphics and perception, real-time computer animation, photo-realistic rendering and parallel graphics. Former members of the group have founded the Irish gaming software company havok.com.

Alias donates software

Alias have donated approximately $70,000 worth of software to fund collaborative research with the ISG. The software, which includes multiple seats of Maya Unlimited and Motion Builder, will be used in research planned by the ISG into human motion and simulation. Alias have also offered the expertise of their senior researchers and we hope that this represents the start of a valuable relationship.

ISA Student of the Year Award 2005

ISG member Simon Dobbyn was one of only 3 shortlisted candidates for the The Irish Software Association (ISA) Student Of the Year award. This prize is awarded for the most innovative and commercially viable software developed by a third level student.
