Psychophysical experiment setup and a physically accurate rendering of the test scene
To produce realistic images from a computer model of a scene, it is necessary to compute a physical simulation of light energy exchanges between the surfaces that compose it. This simulation is very resource intensive, an avenue of research to introduce savings is to avoid computing details that would not make a difference to a human observer. We conducted a psychophysical expriment to determine how important to the eye the indirect lighting term is under different conditions of illuminations. Results were presented at the 2003 meeting of the the Irish Eurographics chapter. |
